• Affordable

Thorium is one of the most energy-dense elements found in nature spread over all the continents in large quantities. Abundant and efficient, can Thorium offer an affordable energy source?

  • Safe

Are there safe methods of using Thorium with no risk of meltdowns or explosions? Can Thorium also be proliferation resistant?

  • Proven

Research into the use of Thorium started in the 1960’s in the US government's atomic lab. Was it already then proven as a superior fuel?

  • Clean

Reactors fuelled by Thorium create zero-emission energy. Is a drastic waste reduction in both amount and lifetime enough?

  • Sustainable

If affordable, safe and clean, does Thorium offer a sustainable solution to the world’s energy problem?

  • Conference

The best and brightest speakers in the field in world class locations – where will the next ThEC be held?

Thorium As Nuclear's New Frontier - Science Magazine

The Science Editor for New Delhi Television, Pallava Bagla, took part in the international Thorium Energy Conference ThEC15 held in Mumbai in October. He published his conclusions in an article in the November issue of Sciencemag.org.

Thorium is “the gateway to powering India’s economy.”
-Dr. R. K. Sinha, Chairman AEC and Secretary DAE

Indonesia and ThorCon to Develop Thorium MSR

Indonesia has signed a memorandum of understanding with ThorCon to develop thorium molten salt reactors. The resulting Indonesia Thorium Consortium has three partners from the Indonesian side.

Signing the memorandum of understanding. Rachmad Hardadi, Refinery Director, Pertamina; Nicke Widyawati, Director, PLN; Lars Jorgensen, CEO, ThorCon; Yudiutomo Imardjoko, CEO, INUKI

Can Europe be the first to build an MSR reactor?

‘When it comes to science and technology, Europe is still in the lead and we can be the first worldwide to realise this technology and build that reactor’, argues Jan Leen Kloosterman from TU Delft.

Thorium Hearing in Danish Parliament

Thorium will be raised on the public agenda in Denmark. On Friday 27th of November there will be a Public Hearing on Thorium in Copenhagen titled ‘Thorium - The Near Future’s Green Energy Source’.

A Powerful Team Evaluated the Molten Salt Reactor - LFTR

A technology assessment of the liquid-fluoride thorium reactor (LFTR) by EPRI, in collaboration with Southern Company, Teledyne Brown Engineering and Flibe Energy, brings together perspectives of the technology developer and technology customer to adapt and apply standard evaluation methods and tools in assessing an innovative advanced reactor concept in the early stages of development.

TerraPower’s Plan B is a Molten Salt Reactor

Last week, at an event at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, TerraPower revealed officially, that it is seriously looking into another advanced nuclear reactor concept: the molten salt reactor.

The first hints were given already in 2013. But now ‘The molten chloride reactor has bubbled up to the point where we’ve gotten more serious about it’, sums Jeff Latkowski, TerraPower’s director of innovation.

Successful Conference in Mumbai - ThEC15

The fifth international Thorium Energy Conference ThEC15 in Mumbai comprised of great presentations and posters, good discussions, dinners with local tastes and a common will to make thorium energy a reality.

Even the slogan was made into reality - Gateway to Thorium Energy.

All this took place in the unique setting of Anushakti Nagar – the Atomic Power City, right on the outskirts of the bustling business city of Mumbai.

Thorium, the Far Side of Nuclear Power

Pandora's Promise from 2013 is a great documentary questioning whether the one energy technology we fear most could save our planet from pollution and a climate catastrophe, while providing the energy needed to lift billions of people in the developing world out of poverty.

A western family's total energy need can be met by this amount of Thorium.
Now there is a new documentary that is focusing more precisely on thorium and...
